About Sompur Mahavihara:

Somapura Mahavihara is an ancient Buddhist monastery located in present-day Bangladesh. It was built by the Pala dynasty ruler Dharmapala in the 8th century CE. As a well-known educational hub, Somapura Mahavihara drew scholars from all across the Indian subcontinent as well as other regions.

 

The enormous monastery complex had a major temple, viharas, stupas, and many cells housing for resident monks. It is one of Bangladesh's most significant archeological sites due to its magnificent architecture and historical significance.

DAY 1: ARRIVALS IN DHAKA

After being greeted by our agent upon your arrival at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, you will be taken to your accommodation. Next, take some personal time. Spend the night in the hotel.

Day 02, Dhaka – Bogra

Following breakfast, depart the hotel at 7:30 a.m. and travel approximately 200 km to Bogra, which will take 6 hours. We'll be on our way to a roadside restaurant for lunch. When you get to the hotel, check in and have some downtime.

 

We will travel to historic Mahasthangarh after thirty minutes and tour several Vihara sites, including Vasu Bihar, Gokul Medh, Bihar Dhap, and the Mahasthangarh Museum. Drop off at the hotel after seeing the sites. Spend the night in a Bogra hotel.

 

DAY 3: SARIAKANDI – SOMPUR MAHAVIHARA

After having your breakfast at 7:30, travel for 2:00 hours to Sompur Mohavihara, which is around 80 km from Bogra town. Visit Sompur Mahavihara, one of the most significant archeological sites in the nation and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dating back to the 8th century, Sompura Mahavihara was formerly the greatest Buddhist monastery south of the Himalayas.

 

Situated near Paharpur, the site and museum architecture bear reminiscence more of Buddhist sanctuaries in Burma and Cambodia than of India. After that, move to Bogra. We can have a little visit if there's time. Stay overnight in Bogra.

Day 4: Bogra – Dhaka

Making our way to Dhaka after breakfast, lunch will be served at a highway restaurant. Arrive in Dhaka late at night. The tour is concludes.
